Shiny bones

Kaitlin Beckett has a knack for painting skeletal creatures with shiny bones and mechanized animals that would be right at home in an apocalyptic battle-type situation. From her steampunk-like insects to battle-tank rams, I just love her amazing style. Ink and paint, gold leaf and crazy details combine to be something that is instantly recognizable as Kaitlin’s style.

Anyone who references A Nightmare on Elm St in their biography has got to be pretty OK as far as I’m concerned and as Robert Bowen is the self-confessed bastard son of 1000 maniacs, you can see what I mean. His art is a mixture of realism and the fantastical where wasps with elephant heads shoot fire and time flies literally! Based in San Francisco, Robert says he watched way to much TV growing up, and now he finds himself to be a connoisseur of ‘bad habits and collector of all things wrong’. He sounds like my type-a-guy!

Sugar for my honey

What is not to love about the art of Glenn Arthur? Cute as pin-ups, tattoos, nursery rhymes run amok. It’s a cavalcade of goodness all wrapped up in an awesome talent. I’ve been drooling over the work of Glenn for a while now, and it’s easy to see why. Just check out his Wonder Woman, it’s enough to make you go weak at the knees (girls and guys alike). I also just adore his humming birds. Whether he’s painting, pencil’ing, or pen’ing your just know something amazing will come out the other side, and Glenn is no slouch at sharing his latest creations either. You can find him on Facebook, G+ and just about everywhere else. Track him down and take a peek.

Don’t box me in

OK hold up – this is just the coolest! Being a child of the 80s, I remember when all my computer games were made up of little pixel characters, and the work of Lee Hasler happily reminds me of that pixel goodness!

Based in the UK Lee’s list of inspiration reads like all our favourite things! Adverts from the 1950s/60s, David Bowie, lo-fi and sci-fi… but why go one when you can see it for yourself?
