Anyone who references A Nightmare on Elm St in their biography has got to be pretty OK as far as I’m concerned and as Robert Bowen is the self-confessed bastard son of 1000 maniacs, you can see what I mean. His art is a mixture of realism and the fantastical where wasps with elephant heads shoot fire and time flies literally! Based in San Francisco, Robert says he watched way to much TV growing up, and now he finds himself to be a connoisseur of ‘bad habits and collector of all things wrong’. He sounds like my type-a-guy!
What is not to love about the art of Glenn Arthur? Cute as pin-ups, tattoos, nursery rhymes run amok. It’s a cavalcade of goodness all wrapped up in an awesome talent. I’ve been drooling over the work of Glenn for a while now, and it’s easy to see why. Just check out his Wonder Woman, it’s enough to make you go weak at the knees (girls and guys alike). I also just adore his humming birds. Whether he’s painting, pencil’ing, or pen’ing your just know something amazing will come out the other side, and Glenn is no slouch at sharing his latest creations either. You can find him on Facebook, G+ and just about everywhere else. Track him down and take a peek.
CEPHALOPODOPTERA is a new series of animated illustration from Vladimir Stankovic that are just simply fantastical. Like magical features living in the deep sea they flash and glitter with their own luminescence.
Last night as a treat my amazing partner booked us tickets to see Dark Knight Rises – the new Batman movie. I went in knowing that it would possibly be amazing as the other two Christopher Nolan Batman movies were, but I didn’t think I would be watching with my heart beating in my chest a hundred miles a minute for the whole film! Anne Hathaway is fantastic as Catwoman, and Nolan’s take on her character is a refreshing surprise. She’s still the strong don’t-mess-with-me woman she always has been – akin to Michelle Pfeiffer’s Catwoman, but with more depth somehow. Christian Bale is now firmly in my mind the definitive Batman. Dark, disturbed, angry… but still deeply in love with his Gotham City. Do yourself a flavour and go see it on the big screen – it really won’t be the same on DVD. I promise.
I’ve seen some cool things done to hair in my time, hell I even had a purple mohawk when I was a wee lass, but the hair stylings of the X-presion studio make my feeble attempts at hair creation look positively lame-o! Check out their website for more crazy hair creativity.

Anyway – we’re back with the amazing photography of Tadao Cern. Who would have thought that sticking models and other people in front of a giant air-blower would create such amazing images!
